On Saturday, Zac and I got to be a part of an awesome meet up planned by GreeneAdventures and EastWestHike. There were 7 hiking bloggers there, including us, and it was really fun to put a face to a lot of the people we had “met” on Twitter. SoCalHiker has a great write up here as well.
For the hike we met up at Schabarum Regional Park and enjoyed a nice leisurely hike of about 6 miles through the hills and trees that make up the park. One group did just Schabarum Loop then headed back to start the grilling while the other group did Powder Canyon as well.
One of my favorite parts of the trail was the high point that had beautiful views of Baldy one way and Catalina the other.
I also loved seeing the overhanging trees on the Powder Canyon loop that provided a calming escape from the wind and sun. There is also a horse corral on this loop that has a bunch of horses and adds a unique aspect to the trail.
After the hike we set out the smorgasbord of food everyone had brought and waited for the tri tip that the Greene’s had graciously provided (they have a food blog as well).
It really was a great feast with an exceptional BBQ and a lot of fun talking to like minded hiking bloggers. Here is a full list of the people there you can check out (other then Zac and I).
Big thanks to EastWestHike for making the cool stickers spotlighting the first meet up as well. I loved the fun community we were able to create and look forward to adding other hikers and bloggers to the semi annual hike everyone wants to start up.
