Gerber Remix Tactical Knife Review

In search of a decent every day carry I decided to give the new tactical a try. Unlike some, I am a fan of knives that look just a little different than the standard so I was quickly drawn to the style and unique look of the Remix Tactical. This was due largely to the finger cut out right in the center of the knife around which the blade rotates. The design combines a half serrated, half fine edge blade and the nice grip on the G-10 composite handle seemed to make it a great choice so I purchased and eagerly awaited its arrival.

With a week under my belt using this knife I really happy with the way its been performing. At around 4.6 oz. it is just slightly heavier then some of the main EDC’s such as Zac’s favorite the Kershaw Leek (weigh in at 3.1 oz). The weight never seemed to be an issue for me though as the pocket clip fit right onto my pocket and I often forget it was even there. The knife is long when closed as well but it hardly sticks out from the pocket which is nice.

The weight would be unimportant though if the knife itself didn’t perform well so I tested it extensively. It cut through all of the small daily tasks a everyday carry knife should be able to handle with ease, from opening packages to work around the house. I have yet to take it on a camping trip, but I trust it will prove to be just as effective there as it was with the small tasks I gave it.

The tanto blade was a great addition as well as I am generally a fan of knives with this type of blade. The hole in the knife is designed to make working with the knife easier and safer and I found it to be a really great addition. It helps to give extra leverage when sawing or cutting something as well as better thrusting abilities. I found myself using the finger hole a lot more than I thought I would and being slightly A.D.D I enjoyed being able to spin it around on my finger during downtime in my day. This knife is also designed to be a one hand opening knife and is designed for tip up carry.

One of the things I am not a huge fan of was how difficult it was to open with a flick motion. Most knives with this type of opening mechanism are easy to open with a fluid flick but I didn’t feel like this shared the same ability. I couldn’t see a way to adjust it so I am hoping with more uses it will loosen up more so I can flick it open with ease, but if you know how to loosen it let me know.

With that being said, for 25 dollars this knife is hard to beat for the price. It has a sturdy blade, strong design and a finger hole that gives you more control over the knife. You can purchase it the Make sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

I recently bought this knife. I was a little iffy about because I was so used to flicking my Smith & Wesson open. I do have to say though, I love this knife. I love the ring for you finger, it gives you so much control over it.

I also hope that by me using it, itll loosen up some. I feel more comfortable when I can flick a knife open with the slightest move.

i had the old remix and it too was a struggle to open but i managed to losen the “action” by using a small screwdriver head to twist the bezel that surounds the finger hole. i have yet to try this with the tactical but the same idea should still apply
