2011 really was a great year full of adventure for us. Zac and I traveled all around California from Mt Lassen in the North to Torrey Pines in the South and a little bit of everything in between. We fished, ran, hiked, surfed, kayaked and traveled all on an endless quest to get out and enjoy this beautiful creation we find ourselves in. Here is a look back at 2011 with the top 5 posts from OPAdventureTeam.com as well as an infographic on our overall stats and favorite hikes. Check it out and let us know what your favorite trips of 2011 were in the comments.
Top Five Posts of 2011
Sapphire Falls Waterfall Hike - This post really hit the ground running as lots of people in our area were excited to see that there was a great waterfall they could hike to so close to their home.
Hiking to the Hollywood Sign, the Batcave, and Mt. Lee - A great hike to one of Hollywood’s most famous landmarks. Unfortunately you cannot get too close to it but this hike allows you to see it from a different angle. Also, the side trip to the batcave from the old Batman show is blast as well.
Bear Grylls Survival Knife Review - A review of one of the outdoor industries biggest products last year. Whether you loved or hated the idea of Bear Grylls survival series there was no denying how big the knives became.
Bridge to Nowhere Hike, Southern California -One of SoCal’s most interesting hikes, this ten mile adventure scrambles over many river crossings before eventually ending at a big bridge that is literally in the middle of nowhere. Added bonus for this hike is the fact that you can bungee jump off the bridge as well.
Winter Mt Baldy Summit, Tackling The Snow and Winter Conditions of Mt Baldy - Zac’s solo summit of one of SoCal’s most prominent peaks was another crowd pleaser this year. Not only is this summit attainable in the winter, it also provides an epic adventure for anyone looking to knock off a 10,000 foot peak in the snow.
Infographic
This inforgraphic collects Zac and I’s stats for hiking this last year. Both of us went over 100 miles with over 6 miles of vertical elevation gain as well. Hopefully we will be able to add a lot to this number in 2012. Click the image if you want to make it bigger.
So there you have it, a recap of what we did this year at OPAdventureTeam.com. Hopefully your year was just as eventful as ours was. Let us know in the comments!

I love your “year in review” display! Congratulations on all your accomplishments and thank you for sharing them with us.
I enjoyed reading all your posts but two stand out for me:
The first being “Winter Mt. Baldy Summit”. It never rains in Southern California but man it snows!
I like how you didn’t let the snow stop you and you ended up experiencing a wonderful adventure. I think you would enjoy adventuring in the mountains during the winter time up my way.
The second is “Bumpass Hell”. I have never seen a landscape or colors like that. I have been checking out photos of Yellowstone Naitonal Park and there are areas there that look like Bumpass Hell. I hope to see Yellowstone in 2012.
Once again congratulations on your 2011 accomplishments and best wishes for many more in 2012!
