For those who fashion themselves a fan of getting into situations that will r
equire survival tools (we tend to do this, read our Mt Baldy snow climb post) the Bear Grylls survival series knives are finally on the market. They include a fixed blade knife, three folding knives, two multi tools, two survival kits, a parang (machete), and a fire starter. Each of these products are individually designed by both Bear Grylls and outdoor gear maker Gerber. Here is a video where Bear introduces the Gerber 31-000751 Ultimate fixed blade knife, which is the most marketed of the series.
The extras alone (fire starter, whistle, sharpener and survival tips and pommel handle) make this knife a pretty cool edition to any pack, and should help you when camping and hiking. You can pick it up for $55 dollars with free shipping right now at OutdoorPros.com. You can see the rest of the Bear Grylls Survival Series Products here.
Zac and I are going to be doing some reviews of the knives and ultimate survival kit in the near future, so look out for that.
What do you guys think? Are these products cool? Or simply an marketing tool?
