Bike Riding on the Santa Ana Trail

This past weekend, Zac and I decided to start preparation for our 90 mile bike ride we will be doing this summer by riding along the Santa Ana trail by our house. Zac is an avid bike rider and is much more in shape then me so he was riding circles around me on the trail but we put in about 10 miles in around 2 hours and had a great time doing it. If you live in the Southern California area this trail is a lot of fun and can be as long or as short as you would like (the trail itself stretches from San Bernardino all the way to Huntington Beach).  Many of the parts of the trail have been re arranged as all of the rain washed some of it out, but it is beautiful with lots of plants and foliage to see. Since it was around 90 degrees outside there were many people on the trail with many families enjoying some time outdoors. All in all it was a nice ride and I would recommend it, we will probably start to do some form of it once a month in preparation for a longer ride.

As a side note, we sent in our Mt. Whitney permit request form today, so hopefully we will be accepted, and are able to check that off of the adventure goals. We still have to wait till April to figure out if we have been accepted though. We are also planning to hike in Torrey Pines this weekend so look for the review next week!
