I had the opportunity, nay the pleasure, of running the Riverside Mission Inn run 2010 10k last weekend and I am happy to report that I put up a new 10k best! I came in 38th over all, 6th in my division (yea it was stacked), I ran it in 43:51 which is a 7:03 mile average! I was excited to fit another race in as I am training for a 15k the first week of Dec and wanted to make sure I was ready, this gave me another reason to train.
This was a really well put together event, this was the first time I had run this race and besides the parking, which in general in downtown riverside can be complicated, everything was great even though there was a huge amount of people. They had chip timing and a well marked course. It was a pretty tough course though, plenty of hills and the back part, on the north side of Mt Rubidoux had you running into the wind for at least a quarter of a mile which was pretty tough.
All in all it was a great event I really enjoyed running it and posting a new best time! Running in and around downtown Riverside is always a pleasure as Mt Rubidoux is one of my favorite spots to run. I even got a medal (they went out to the first 100 finishers). I’m really looking forward to my next race 15k here I come!
